This popular spot obviously draws families both young and old. Always busy it seems. I can understand why-- Prompt, friendly, efficient service Well prepared plates with a huge selection Generous servings, reasonable prices But this place also has a solid bar. I would never claim that the house margarita is top shelf--it's well above average particularly for its under 7 bucks price. Thought the chori pollo was solid, but not outstanding as the chicken and chorizo both were a bit overcooked. The refried beans were meh--add some spice please.
Now we eat out a lot! Mexican food is our favorite and have literally been in over 100 restaurants Mexican restaurants all over the world. La Carreta, KINGSPORT is the real deal! Immaculately clean. I mean, I really tried to find floor particles or some sort of grime. I couldn't! Wow! Lampshades... Hospital clean. I've been in 6 restaurants of many genre, so far, having just moved here. Five of those I would never eat or recommend (separate reviews pending). But this place beats every Mexican restaurant I've seen. Seriously. No wonder they always seem busy. The server was spot on. Very attentive. If I had any recommendations, I'd love to see an option for the salsa... With more course onions, cilantro peppers and tomatoes and garlic with cumin and lime to differentiate and enhance. Then this place would be absolutely perfect! Great job!
After a long day of work a good meal is well needed. I was greeted by Ricardo who amazing his service definitely should be recognized for Great Service. My servers name was Karina she was very pleasant and had great service. We ordered a milanesa de Pollo came with rice, side salad and beans. The plate was well served, the chicken was full of flavor. I asked for some corn tortillas and made milanesa de pollo tacos it was the Best. The rice reminded me of my mom and no one makes rice like hers. For dessert I had the churros they took a little long to make but the taste is worth the wait. If you live in the area or are visiting make sure to stop by and taste the authentic Mexican food. I almost always get the burrrito La Carreta, but I do know other choice's are also very good !
